Common name: Orange Dahlia
The dahlia is a member of the Asteraceae family, with other flowers such as the sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum and zinnia.
We have a beautiful orange dahlia that I have been unable to find a comparable bloom. I do not know its exact classification but here is a photo of one of the most beautiful dahlias that we have ever grown:
We also have a dwarf dahlia blooming now:
During the spring, we had several other beautiful blooms, some of which were of the “dinner plate” (10″) size. Here is a gallery of the spring blooms. Click on an image to enlarge it and use the arrow (in the enlarged photo) to move to different pictures.
Update from October: Another of our dahlias has bloomed.
For more information, the American Dahlia Society has a page “Fundamentals of Growing Dahlias” that is a great resource.
